The glory of these freely
wandering peacocks, seen at SF Zoo, inspired this vibrant, same name design in
both vermeil and sterling silver. Nicole is also influenced by current
events, museum visits, animal images, symbols and relics of ancient epochs.
For
example, replicas of ancient ethnic beads and coins from Nepal or these
Thai, hand-wrought silver findings conjure up antiquity. Moreover, co-designing
with her customers is another source of repertoire-expanding inspiration. For
instance, the "charm" necklace has become quite popular blending a customer's
beloved mementos with modern colors and other charm elements.
Or sometimes vague customer
requests for a "black necklace with some color" have inspired intriguing jewelry
creations that enhance the coloring and innate beauty of the person wearing it.
"I believe people are drawn to the symbolism of clasps or pendants as well as
the colors of certain gems, but deep inside, I think their subconscious guides
them to the healing (and protective) properties of those stones that speak to
them (at that moment) through their colors."
